We are trekking for women and girls everywhere
Hi everyone,
We are proud to be fundraising for the 'Safe. Everywhere. Always.' campaign.
In November, we are taking part in the leadership trek with UN Women Australia. We will take on the challenge of hoofing it up Australia’s highest peak, Mount Kosciuszko, alongside other campaign participants and leadership members.
The 16 Days of Activism were inaugurated in 1991, 35 years ago. Today, a woman is still violently killed in Australia approximately every four to nine days. Globally, women's rights are being rolled back, from the Taliban's ban on girls' secondary and higher education in Afghanistan to the overturning of Roe v Wade in the United States, which removed federal constitutional protection for abortion access.
Member of The Elders and former NZ Prime Minister Helen Clark said that these recent changes "set the tone that women's rights can be rolled back at whim" and that we cannot take the rights [women] have gained for granted.
Summiting Australia's highest peak a couple of weeks before the campaign's 16 days of activism officially kicks off serves as an important reminder that we can and must continue to reach new heights, provided we strive for them!
Please help us reach, and hopefully surpass, our combined $3,000 fundraising target.
You will directly contribute to UN Women Australia and its initiatives to prevent and respond to gender-based violence globally. Together, through the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women, we can make tangible strides towards a world where women and girls are Safe. Everywhere. Always.
If you are interested in getting involved in your own way, you can register for 'Safe. Everywhere. Always.'; a free challenge open to everyone. The challenge is to complete at least 30 km of activity between 25 November and 10 December.
Thank you!

What a noble cause! All the best with the trek. Love you both x
