What is the UN's
16 Days of Activism?
Over $500k has been raised through Safe. Everywhere. Always. since 2023. We couldn't do it without a community of passionate people like the Tummers Family 💗
Our family choose to take part in the Safe. Everywhere. Always. challenge because we believe gender-based violence is not a women’s issue, it’s everyone’s issue, women’s rights are human rights, and all women have the right to be safe, everywhere, always. It can be difficult to know what to do and where to start, but by speaking up, we can raise awareness of gender-based violence and challenge the narrative, we can recognise, remember, and share the stories of those we’ve lost to gender-based violence, we can raise funds for important initiatives including the UN Women’s Initiative to prevent and respond to gender-based violence globally, and we can check in on the women around us.

Do you still have questions?
Here are some of our top FAQs, but head over to our FAQs page to see if we have more answers for you there.
Do I have to walk to participate?
Absolutely not. We realise walking may not be for everyone and we encourage you to take part in the challenge and log your KMs any way you are able to.
Try running, swimming, cycling, rollerblading or the step machine at the gym! The possibilities are endless 😉
How far should I walk?
We understand everyone taking part will be at different fitness levels. You should choose an achievable KM goal when you register.
Whether you choose 30km, 100kms or your own km goal, every step you take over the 16 day challenge is raising awareness and funds to help put an end violence against women and girls.
Where do the funds I raise go?
All funds raised through the Challenge are donated to UN Women Australia, which supports our advocacy efforts both here in Australia and globally through the UN Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women and Girls.Â
In 2025, the UN Trust Fund managed a US$74.5 million portfolio supporting 159 civil society and women's rights organisations across 71 countries and territories. Together, these partners reached 12.1 million people, including 6.9 million women and girls, helping to strengthen services, prevention programmes, movement building and laws and policies to end violence against women and girls.
Find out more about where your funds go here.
Are online donations tax deductible?
