Where do the funds I raise go?
expand_circle_down expand_circle_down

The funds you raise will help UN Women’s work to prevent and respond to violence against women across the globe. All funds will be distributed to global programs by the UN Trust Fund, managed by UN Women.

What is the UN Trust Fund?
expand_circle_down expand_circle_down

The UN Trust Fund is the largest international financing fund for combating all forms of violence against women and girls. Through violence prevention programs, legislation and improving access to essential services for victims, the UN Trust Fund has improved the lives of millions of women and girls over the last 20 years.

By supporting organisations and activists worldwide and researching methods that have real impact, the Trust Fund not only helps to truly improve the lives of women and girls, but also build knowledge. The Trust Fund can make a big difference with few resources.

Why is the Trust Fund necessary?

Worldwide, one in three women will experience violence in their lives. This can take all kinds of forms; from sexual harassment to sexual assault and rape, from domestic violence to manslaughter and from forced marriage to genital mutilation.

Are online donations tax deductible?
expand_circle_down expand_circle_down

Yes! Anyone who donates $2 or more through your online fundraising page will automatically be emailed a tax-deductible receipt.

Am I able to raise money offline and add it to my online total?
expand_circle_down expand_circle_down

It is best to use your online fundraising link to fundraise, but if you do receive any cash or cheque donations, you can deposit the money into your bank account and then donate directly onto your page using your credit card. The total on your fundraising page will then reflect the funds you raised offline.

How do I get my friends and family to donate?
expand_circle_down expand_circle_down

The key to getting donations is to SHARE!

Visit our Resources page and download as many social tiles as you want. Share these on your social media and link your posts to your fundraising page.

You can also login to your fundraising page dashboard and click on 'Get Support' from the drop down menu. Here we have provided you with easy links to share your journey through different social media channels and an email (feel free to personalise this!) to send to your contacts.

What happens if I don't reach my fundraising goal?

It’s ok if you don’t reach your fundraising goal – we understand fundraising can be difficult, the most important thing is that you did your best! Every dollar you raise makes a real impact in supporting UN Women global programs.

Getting Started

What is Safe. Everywhere. Always?
expand_circle_down expand_circle_down

Safe. Everywhere. Always. is a fitness and fundraising challenge in support of UN Women Australia. From 25 November to 10 December during 16 Days of Activism, a global campaign against gender-based violence, Australians will be encouraged to walk, run or roll 30 to 100kms while raising funds to support global programs addressing violence against women and girls.

Who can take part?
expand_circle_down expand_circle_down

Anyone, anywhere can take part in this challenge! You can get involved as an individual, workplace, a team, a bunch of mates or a sports club.

Do I have to walk to participate?
expand_circle_down expand_circle_down

Absolutely not. We realise walking may not be for everyone and we encourage you to take part in the challenge and log your KMs any way you are able to.

How much does it cost to register?
expand_circle_down expand_circle_down

It is free to register! Sign up here now.

How far should I walk?
expand_circle_down expand_circle_down

We understand everyone taking part will be at different fitness levels. You should choose an achievable KM goal when you register.

Whether you choose 30km, 100kms or your own km goal, every step you take over the 16 day challenge is raising awareness and funds to help put an end violence against women and girls.

How do I edit my fundraising page?

Login to your account and head to your dashboard. Click on 'Edit My Page to personalise and update your fundraising page.

How do I log my KMs?
expand_circle_down expand_circle_down

Your fundraising page includes your personal distance tally so you can track your target and it’s also a great way to keep your friends updated on how you are going.

On 25 November, everyone’s distance tracking will return to 0km as this is the official start date of Safe. Everywhere. Always.

If you track your rides with Fitbit or Strava, your distances will automatically sync. If you do not use one of these apps, you can log your fitness activities manually. Click here and follow these instructions to sync your app.

If you have synced your app already but it is not working, please log out and log in again to re-connect.

Can I use my Apple watch to track my KMs?
expand_circle_down expand_circle_down

Due to limitations of our website, we can’t currently automatically sync Apple Watch data to Safe. Everywhere. Always.

For Apple users, we recommend that you log your KMs manually – just check your health app at the end of each day or week and input the KMs in your fundraising page dashboard. The instructions for manually entering your KMs are here

When you are registering, you will need to fill out your personal details before the Team, Workplace or School details.

If you set up an individual page and then decide to create a team, you will be able to do this from your fundraising dashboard.

expand_circle_down expand_circle_down

You can have as many people on a team as you like! Teams are a great way to keep you motivated and accountable over the 16 days, not to mention making walking and fundraising that much more enjoyable.

expand_circle_down expand_circle_down
There are two ways to do this:

1. At the time of registering, if you selected the public option for anyone to join your team, workplace or school, there will be a 'Join Us' button our your team page. Simply send the url of your team page out to potential team members and they will be able to click on the button and join.

2. If you didn't select the public join option at the time of registering, to invite people to join your team, simply login in to your account and navigate via the drop down menu to your Workplace dashboard. From here, click on 'Organisation Members' and a link will be provided for you to send out.
How can I motivate my Workplace to be involved?
expand_circle_down expand_circle_down

Encourage and inspire your colleagues to become part of your team or suggest that they create a separate team to foster healthy internal competition. I.T verse Marketing anyone?

Motivate senior leaders within your organisation to participate in the challenge and set a positive example for others. Advocate for your workplace to match your staff’s fundraising efforts, contributing to the mission of ending violence against women.
