WHERE THE FUNDS GO

Your support during these 16 Days of Activism is crucial in our collective efforts to ensure the safety of women and girls worldwide.

Violence against women is a global crisis, affecting millions worldwide, including right here in Australia.

From domestic violence to trafficking, it manifests in many forms with profound physical, psychological, and societal consequences. Despite decades of advocacy, its prevalence remains alarmingly high.

Your fundraising efforts will be donated to UN Women Australia, which supports our advocacy efforts both here in Australia and globally through the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women.

Together, through the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women, we can make tangible strides towards a world where women and girls are Safe. Everywhere. Always.

The UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women

The UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women (UNTF), managed by UN Women, is the only global grant-giving mechanism exclusively dedicated to preventing and ending violence against women and girls globally.

Focusing on preventing violence, implementing laws and policies, and improving access to vital services for survivors, the UN Trust Fund invests in life-changing initiatives for millions of women and girls around the world. Over two decades of persistent efforts from global activists have resulted in improved international laws and standards to end violence against women and girls. Yet, resources to adequately implement these improvements remain woefully lacking and insufficient to combat the unacceptable rate of violence, harassment, and abuse.

The UN Trust Fund is committed to advocating for adequate, sustainable funding for efforts to end violence against women and girls. It is committed to funding organisations that are operating at the grassroots level, focused on women’s rights, and that are women-led.

In 2025, the new portfolio of grantee partners continues this mission, advancing innovative and old approaches to addressing violence against women, each tailored to the unique needs of local contexts. For example, in Cambodia, one initiative will spearhead a national women-led participatory research project on technology-facilitated gender-based violence, generating robust evidence to inform advocacy and policy, while in Serbia, another project will use social hackathons to bring together women, activists, and local communities – providing them with the skills, space, and support to design safety solutions, strengthen leadership, and amplify their voices in decision-making. These initiatives underscore the UN Trust Fund’s ongoing commitment to tackling emerging and evolving forms of violence affecting women and girls worldwide.

In 2024, UN Trust Fund projects reached over
7.7 million women and girls
