From November 25th, I’ll be taking part in UN Women Australia’s Safe. Everywhere. Always. walk to help raise awareness and funds to end violence against women and girls.

This is a cause that is very close to my heart.

As some of you may know, I was in a domestic violence relationship for a large part of my late teens and early twenties. It’s something I’ve always found difficult to fully come to terms with, let alone speak openly about.

However, seeing the ongoing violence against women and girls, both here in Australia and around the world, has really impacted me. It’s made me want to use my own experiences to help make a difference, even if it’s only in a small way.

Every woman and girl deserves to feel safe. Whether that’s in their own home, walking down the street, at work, or simply going about their everyday life. Feeling safe should never be a privilege. It should be a right.

I’m doing this walk not only for myself, but for every woman who has experienced violence, those who are still finding their voice, and those who sadly never got the chance. 💜
