Hi family and friends, from November 25th, I’m going to be walking for a cause that is close to my heart. 

Every woman and girl around the world, deserves to feel Safe. Everywhere. Always. – at home, at the gym, even online - and that is why I’m joining UN Women Australia in the walk to end violence against women and girls.

Saturday 30th Nov
At the time I started to write this I began the post with “Today marks the 90th Australian woman killed this year”.
Unfortunately within the minute that I started this post the number has now been updated to 91.

I’m angry, depressed, and in complete disbelief.
Disbelief at how much deafening silence surrounds this growing issue.
Anger at the inaction of the government, courts, and law enforcement.
And depression for the many women and children who have lost their lives to violence in Australia.

If you had told me 10 years ago that we would still be screaming for rights and equality in 2024 I don’t know that I would’ve believed you.
How are we still so stuck in the dark ages when it comes to women’s lives?!

We don’t all have the time nor resources to aide women in need; however we do all have a voice, and all of our actions make a difference.
So please ask yourself, why aren’t you angry? Why aren’t you upset?
And if you are - WHY ARE YOU SILENT?!

Aggressions that lead to the violent deaths of women and children start small.
Even a comment from a mate pulling someone into line over a sexist remark can have an impact. Albeit little, though the more we speak out and the more we show solidarity with the cause, the more the people around us will see and understand.
