This is for women and girls everywhere....

Hi family and friends, from November 25th, I’m going to be walking for a cause that is close to my heart.

Every woman and girl around the world, deserves to feel Safe. Everywhere. Always. – at home, at the gym, even online - and that is why I’m joining UN Women Australia in the walk to end violence against women and girls.

Help me reach my fundraising goal and we can help to build a better future for women and girls around the world.

Safe. Everywhere. Always. Why I'm Taking Part.

Sunday 25th Oct
I've signed up for UN Women Australia's Safe. Everywhere. Always. challenge, running from 25 November to 10 December as part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

For me, this is about more than getting some kilometres in.

In Australia, 1 in 2 women will experience sexual harassment in their lifetime. Behind that statistic are real people whose experiences can have lasting impacts.

Through my work as a social worker, and through the experiences of women close to me, I've seen those impacts firsthand.

As a dad to a young boy and stepdad to a young girl, I also think a lot about the example we set for the next generation. I want my daughter to grow up feeling safe and respected, and my son to understand that empathy, respect and accountability are part of being a good man.

Recently, I've started writing a series of open letters to men about misogyny, accountability and why we sometimes find it so difficult to challenge our mates.

Those letters aren't about attacking men or pretending I have all the answers. They're about starting conversations, questioning what we've come to accept as normal and encouraging men, myself included, to reflect on our own behaviour.

Because while most men oppose violence against women, opposing it and actively challenging the attitudes that allow it to continue are two different things.

And that's really what connects the letters to this challenge.

Speaking up matters, but so does turning those conversations into action.

Over these 16 days, I'll be moving, training and raising funds to support UN Women Australia's work to prevent and respond to gender-based violence.

I'm doing this because I believe change requires more than good intentions. It takes listening, reflection, uncomfortable conversations and a willingness to do things differently.

If you're able to donate, I'd genuinely appreciate your support. If not, sharing the message, reading the letters or starting a conversation with your own mates matters too.

Because ending violence against women isn't just women's responsibility.

Men need to be part of the solution.

Safe. Everywhere. Always. 💜
